To PTRANS shareholders: Rationality is the first lesson in investing

Today, the stock price hit a 52-week low; many trapped retail investors are likely feeling down. However, venting negative emotions in the comment section won’t change the stock price or your assets. $PTRANS (0186.MY)$ After three consecutive months of sideways movement between 0.25 - 0.26, rational investors should focus on core fundamentals—like net profit margins above 40%, and the progress of projects such as Tronoh Sentral—rather than being too lazy to even study the QR or not knowing the release date.

Regarding the recent continuous drop in price, retail investors who are stuck holding the stock might consider adopting these strategies:
(1) Average Down: If you’re optimistic about PTRANS’s overall cash flow from operations, looking at the financial statements showing RM 260 million in reserves might help explain why the current share price is lower than several institutions’ fair value estimates (with an estimated Intrinsic Value of around 0.50 or higher). You can gradually buy in small amounts near the support level of 0.25, according to your capital allocation, to reduce your average cost basis.
(2) Rational Stop-Loss: But if your investment logic is short-term speculation, and once it breaks through key psychological support levels with no rebound in sight, then you should consider decisively cutting losses to preserve capital, so you can reinvest elsewhere—this is how to maximize returns.

The global market is in a volatile period, and PTRANS is also filtering out unqualified speculators. Having been involved in stocks for five years, I deeply understand that wealth often transfers from impatient individuals to patient ones. So stay rational, and don’t let emotions become the main reason for your losses.

  • 106307687 : average down....funny...got extra fund play play other easy profits ..honestly

  • 106307687 : this loophole who dare to average down..it doesn't work..
now it just wait to rebound or cut loss run away...

  • Bz Fly Moon 15800 106307687 : That's why I say short-term trading isn't suitable, especially since the current price is already below the market price.

  • 106307687 Bz Fly Moon 15800 : Are you sure it's below the market price?
Now we can only wait for the earnings report... This stock is the worst performer in my portfolio...

  • Amy99 OP 106307687 : Go check the institutional report

  • 财富如滚雪球一般 : The perfect excuse is that the fundamentals are solid, continually luring investors to average down their costs. The idea of long-term holding is just an illusion.

If the fundamentals were truly solid, the stock price should remain relatively stable or rise gradually, instead of the current situation akin to boiling a frog slowly, with continuous declines. There have been so many large and exceptionally large sell orders, and without institutional or capital operations behind it, this visible phenomenon makes me suspect there might be hidden issues behind the cliff-like drop before the Lunar New Year.

  • 106307687 : Yes..
Hahaha, there are too many penny stocks in Malaysia.
Invest for the long term, but you also need a clear direction.
Averaging down on this stock is really like gambling at Genting, it's not a strategy.

  • Amy99 OP 财富如滚雪球一般 : Thank you for your response. First, let me say what I agree with: the situation where investors are lured into investing in stocks with seemingly strong fundamentals while the share price keeps declining has indeed occurred in some individual stocks. Additionally, I've experienced this with a few stocks — despite having equally solid fundamentals, their prices plummeted over 30% for various reasons. However, after averaging down in batches and waiting for the stock price to stabilize and rebound, I was able to exit with a 15% profit. This is one of the strategies that has helped me profit in medium- to long-term investments over the past year or two.

I understand that discussing fundamentals at a time when PTRANS' stock price has plummeted may seem unreliable. However, my understanding is that the sharp drop in the stock price was caused by a margin call forcing the sale of shares pledged by major shareholders—a result of financial leverage collapse rather than serious flaws in the company's operations.
For PTRANS' fundamentals, I assess them based on its reserves, business model, and overall operating cash flow as a safety baseline. I don't use this information to predict whether the stock price will rise or fall tomorrow but to judge whether the company can survive and how well it can thrive. Also, I’m actually from Perak, and seeing more Perak Transit buses on the road gives me a bit more confidence 😆.
Anyway, the market is very pragmatic, and in the end, we can only exchange our understanding for money. So, while you question from a hedging logic perspective, I insist based on value—time will tell the answer 🤞.

  • Amy99 OP 106307687 : Looking at your frequent emotional posts and constant polls to gauge sentiment on this stock, I'm quite curious about what investment strategy you have for it.

  • 106307687 Amy99 OP : Whether to wait or not...
Wait, but the company must have a good and correct direction.
