Tiger Woods is leaving Nike after making $500M off their 27 year long partnership. Where will he end up next?
It was announced today that Tiger Woods and Nike have split ways. Tiger will undoubtedly be partnering with someone else or starting his own clothing brand. If he chooses to partner with another company, expect their stock to skyrocket on the news.
Possible scenarios (in no particular order):
He partners with TaylorMade. TW already uses their golf clubs so it would make sense they would expand their partnership beyond clubs. Unfortunately, TaylorMade is privately owned so no stocks to bet on.
Addidas (ticker: ADDYY OTC) is one of the few companies with deep enough pockets and global recognition needed to partner. After severing their relationship with Kanye West, they need a big win to replace that lost revenue.
He starts his own clothing company. I think this is unlikely because why do all that when you can simply partner with an existing clothing company and demand obscene amounts of money doing it?
He partners with Titleist (ticker: Golf) parent company Acushnet Holdings Corp. which also owns FootJoy. TW currently wears FootJoy shoes.
He partners with Callaway/TopGolf (ticker: ModG). Callaway/TopGolf has been heavily investing into different clothing brands and a partnership with TW could boost all aspects of their business (clothes, gold balls, clubs, and the rapidly growing TopGolf Venues).

On a side note, it’s common for golfers to have multiple competing sponsors so using TaylorMade clubs, FootJoy shoes, Bridgestone golf balls, and any of the other possible clothes sponsors is common in golf.
My thoughts, buy stock in all the companies he might partner with. Once he announces a partnership that particular stock goes up 10+ percent and hopefully the others don’t dip much. Buy the rumor, sell the news.
