The Storm
A girl was driving with her father when they came upon a big storm brewing. “The storm looks bad should I pull over?” The girl asked her father. “Keep driving,” her father said. The storm started to worsen and some other cars started to pull over. “Should I stop now?” Asked the girl. “Keep driving,” her father told her. Eventually most cars had stopped and pulled over as the storm raged. “Surely I should pull over now?” The girl asked. “No keep driving,” the father said again. Finally, the storm abated, as they had out driven it. “Now pull over,” her father said. “What? Why? We are out of the storm now,” the girl answered shocked.
The father smiled, “I want you to stop and get out and look at all the cars who stopped and are still struggling in the storm. You kept going and got through the storm.”
The market can look like quite a storm at times. But if we stay strong, look for bargain opportunities and hold strong to the holdings we have conviction on, we too will outrun it and look back with pride at the others who panicked, sold and are still in the chaos.
