The start of my financial journey
The most important moment in my 2024 investment journey was taking the first steps.
I’ve never taken personal finance seriously - only having dumped money into EPF, Unit Trusts and (regretfully) Investment Linked Insurance. I’ve since dissolved my insurance and went for pure Medical and Life coverage, and reinvested the surrender fee into a range of investments.
The MalaysiaPF Reddit group brought my attention to Moomoo, and I’ve just started a few days ago by putting funds into it, but have not started any stock purchases yet - this will be soon.
As for a useful Moomoo feature? I really like that it displays various markets very clearly, and it’s been easy to understand the basics even for a newbie like myself. I also watched some YouTube videos for a quick introduction to the basics and it looks good so far.
All in all I’m glad to be starting 2025 in a better position financial planning wise, and this to me has been a combination of education and planning.

Keiith : my returns haven’t been anywhere near yours. I’ve been dabbling in stocks, but mostly just dipping my toes. How did you manage to pull off 50% in just 4 days? Any tips for a newbie?
Yeize : Also came across Moomoo on Reddit! Been focusing on long-term plays myself, but seeing your quick gains is definitely motivating. Do you only trade stocks, or do you also use options?![undefined [undefined]](https://static.moomoo.com/nnq/emoji/static/image/default/default-black.png?imageMogr2/thumbnail/36x36)

Feirre : I like what you’re doing with Moomoo—seems like it’s great for beginners.
How do you deal with the uncertainty of market moves? I tend to get a bit anxious when things dip, but I guess that’s part of the learning curve, right?
Cuhai88 : Impressive, little brother is just pursuing a stage of stable profit.
104600979-gaya : I am a newbie here too, do share tips how did you started?
FarizK : 50% christmas gift. Santa mustve loved you
躺平赚生活费 : The Malaysian stock market is too slow, focus on the US stock market instead!
All Also Taken : it's amazing that you can make over 10k without buying any stock
All Also Taken Keiith : Right? and he did it without buying any stock, that's really amazing.
Kevin Matte : try papertrade first !!!
