Tesla's "Cybercab" global debut sends stock falling
According to The Information, by 2026, tesla plans to launch four new 4680 batteries. One of them, with the internal code name NC05, will provide power for Robotaxi. Tesla also plans to use the NC05 battery in the Cybertruck, Semi electric truck, and a fourth unknown vehicle.
Another variant, named NC20, will have a higher energy density compared to other versions. Tesla plans to use NC20 to power an SUV, Cybertruck, and future vehicle models.
The other two batteries under development—NC30 and NC50—introduce silicon-carbon materials for the first time. Silicon-carbon materials can accommodate more lithium ions and allow them to move more freely in and out, thus improving charging speed. NC30 will be used in vehicles including the Cybertruck and a future sedan model, while NC50, smaller in size and more performance-focused, may be used in the Roadster sports car.
