Start. [Swing Trading] MMAG (0034) Article

I started learning stock investment during the pandemic in 2022. Over three years, from Malaysian stocks to Taiwanese stocks, Hong Kong stocks, and finally to US stocks, I've enjoyed the highlights and also embraced the lows. Gradually, I understood that to profit in different stock markets, different investment strategies are needed.
Swing Trading is a "medium-short term" investment strategy that I've been trying out in the US stock market 🇺🇸 and the Malaysian stock market 🇲🇾 through Moomok over the past year. Unlike Day Traders, you don't need to monitor the market every second for ultra-short-term trades, nor do you have to hold stocks for several years in a long-term position.
The core logic of swing trading is to capture the "waves" caused by market sentiment or trends within days to weeks. Simply put, as a "surfer," you "buy at support levels 📉 and sell at resistance levels 📈."
Recently, $MMAG (0034.MY)$ It’s acting up again, so I’ll use this as an example to specifically explain the high volatility characteristics of this penny stock. I know that for many beginners, they might see this as an opportunity but overlook the significant risks it could bring.
Based on the current market data (January 2026), I will analyze whether it is suitable for 'swing trading':
🚩 MMAG (0034)
Volatility: ★★★★★ (Extremely High)
MMAG's current share price is hovering at RM 0.045 - RM 0.05, a low range. For this 'penny stock,' a single tick of 0.005 represents a 10% change in value. For swing traders, such volatility may yield quick returns, but it’s also highly likely to cause substantial losses within a day, especially if signs of manipulation arise—such as UMA (Unusual Market Activity), cliff-like crashes, shareholders cashing out precisely, and frequent equity dilution.
⚠️ Warning Signals
According to the data, MMAG experienced a dramatic crash from late 2025 to early 2026, with its share price plummeting from 0.80 to 0.045. It's currently consolidating around 0.045, which is an extremely weak support level.
Recently, I've noticed some novice investors in Malaysian stocks wanting to use MMAG for practice. Setting aside the highly manipulated nature of speculative stocks and their inapplicability to standard technical analysis, I think beginners are easily attracted to these low-cost, high-volume penny stocks. However, they overlook the liquidity trap hidden within the trading volume—when selling pressure becomes intense, they may face a situation where all buyers (market manipulators) vanish, leaving them unable to sell even at a loss. In the stock market, what's feared isn't just a drop in share price; worse still is when the stock you're holding turns into an 'orphaned stock' after the manipulators are done with it!
All in all, trading a stock like MMAG isn’t called swing trading—it’s more akin to gambling irrationally. Genuine swing trading should involve selecting stocks with clear trends and fundamental support (such as Sunway or Inari) and buying them when they retrace to the 20MA moving average. If you don’t exit MMAG when it breaks below support, swing trading can quickly turn into 'forced long-term holding.'
