The Academic Case for D-Wave ($QBTS): Ignoring Earnings Noise and Tracking Institutional Flow

As a researcher mapping out the commercialization of quantum tech, the recent price action on D-Wave Quantum ($QBTS) is a classic example of retail markets overreacting to short-term earnings noise while ignoring massive fundamental shifts.
While the stock has experienced heavy volatility—swinging wildly between the low $20s and high $30s—the underlying business is securing infrastructure-level dominance. Their recent Q4 report showed a massive €10 million multi-year capacity commitment in Italy and the strategic relocation of their R&D facility to Boca Raton, Florida. This is no longer speculative tech; it is active commercial deployment.
Instead of trading the headline volatility, I use the moomoo platform to track what the "smart money" is actually doing. If you pull up the Level 2 depth chart, you can clearly see strong accumulation walls building in the $18 to $19 support range. Furthermore, cross-referencing this with moomoo's institutional holdings tab reveals that funds are actively scaling in on these dips, not shaking out.
Retail is focusing on the Q4 earnings miss, but institutions are positioning for the back-half 2026 revenue ramp-up. I'm actively adding to my position in this support zone.
For the tech investors here: Are you currently playing the quantum computing sector through pure plays like $QBTS and $IONQ, or are you just holding broad tech ETFs to manage your risk? Let me know your strategy below.
