Tesla's Self-driving Tech may hurt Xpeng

Investors expect Tesla will soon fully activate its full self-driving features in China following Elon Musk's recent visit, the analyst says, but doesn't expect it to be a big swing factor in its global earnings. However, Tesla's move may affect the potential of XPeng's self-driving system as most of the "navigate on autopilot" systems developed by Chinese automakers are at the level of the older generation FSD developed around 2010, Citi says. Citi has a sell rating on XPeng.
My Take: According to Yahoo Finance, it is reported that Xpeng self-driving system is indeed "level 2". Other sources also reported that Xpeng NGP looks "very similar" to Tesla FSD and probably "inspired" by Tesla's design. EM has commented that Tesla autonomous driving system which involves AI-software is the years ahead of its rivals. Jeff chung, a Citi analyst who covers Xpeng stock must know something to comment that Tesla's self-driving tech entry to China may hurt Xpeng.

ZnWCOP : Tesla has great autonomous driving technology and brand, and only with the entry of more good products and technology can the whole market and customers have a better experience, Xpeng CEO said. I believe Xpeng CEO really thinks that Tesla FSD V12 is one of a superior autonomous driving technology in the EV industry.
