Tesla's China-Made EV Sales Decline in September

$Tesla(TSLA.US)$Tesla's sales of electric vehicles (EVs) produced in China dipped 10.9% year-on-year in September, with the company selling 74,073 units. The sales for the popular China-made Model 3 and Model Y saw a decrease of 12% compared to the previous month.

In contrast, BYD experienced a significant growth of 42.8% in passenger vehicle deliveries, hitting a total of 286,903 units last month.
One of the factors impacting Tesla's numbers is the halt in production caused by planned factory upgrades to introduce a new version of the Model 3 sedan. Furthermore, Tesla’s strategy typically involves higher exports of China-made cars at each quarter's start and a focus on domestic deliveries towards the quarter's end.
Tesla launched an updated Model 3 in September, priced 12% higher than its predecessor in the Chinese market. Interestingly, Xpeng introduced a new G9 SUV with a price tag 15% lower than its previous model.

Adding to Tesla's challenges in the global market, the European Commission is investigating the company, alongside other automakers like Renault and some Chinese brands for the subsidies received for battery-powered cars from China.
That being said, Tesla's China-made vehicle deliveries reached an all-time high of 247,217 units in the second quarter of this year.
