JessieRuan :
Hello Master, I have a question. For a long term hold stock. When you see the downtrend coming. Whether will you sell some to take some profits out? Thanks.

if you are profitable, I would never say no. it's always OK to take some profits. be sure to set it aside and set a Buy for some point lower. that's always OK. unless dividends are coming (that's why they time them sometimes)

Thank you for your reply, really appreciate! I entered into this stock when it was 0.68. I did not buy too much, it is in my retirement account. I probably just hold it and buy more when it getting lower.

Hello master, you said the dividends affect the stock price and they time it. I am not quite understanding it. I have another stock IMPP, the company just announced a dividend of $0.546875 per share on its 8.75% Series A Cumulative Redeemable Perpetual Preferred Stock. How that will affect the stock price? Thanks
iamiamOP :
they will subtract the dividend from the price. so if a company offered a 1 dollar dividend, they would try to run the stock down a dollar from when they announce the dividend. so you don't actually gain anything by buying the stock for the dividend unless you accumulated over time

iamiamOP JessieRuan: the problem with doing this is selling and failing to get back in.
