Supply chain issues cast shadow over NVIDIA
NVIDIA said it expects demand for its next-generation chips, including the higher-priced B100 Blackwell, to "outstrip supply" in the near term.
NVIDIA Chief Executive Jen-Hsun Huang told investors on a conference call late Wednesday : "We expect demand to continue to be stronger than our supply this year, and we're going to do the best we can." "The cycle is improving and we will continue to do our best."
NVIDIA said it will launch its H20 chip, which complies with new export regulations, later this year.
NVIDIA's monopoly on the broader AI chip market is unlikely to be challenged by AMD for another year or more. But as companies (and increasingly governments) look to capitalize on the potential of AI technology, they will be looking for new sources of GPUs so as not to fall in line behind other high-paying customers.
This could significantly accelerate AMD's near-term growth rate. $Advanced Micro Devices(AMD.US$ $NVIDIA(NVDA.US$
