SUNSHINE16 : Come to Asia / SE Asia and you will see they’re empty because nobody can afford it and they don’t like it. The SB workers in Vietnam earn $1/hour, and that includes higher salary for English speaking skills. Even the staff can’t afford to buy it and they work for an international and famous company. A venti is about $5 to $5.50, so 2/3 of their daily salary. $5 in VN is similar to $10/$12 in USA. VN prefer strong and bad tasting coffee, and SB is very weak and good tasting. You can also get a delicious local coffee anywhere in VN for $0.50, so 1 SB coffee can get you 10 local coffees. Average salary in VN for the 100 million population is about $250 /month.
As for China, every time I go there the SB are empty as well. Too many cheap and trendy coffee brands open there daily with delicious coffee.
