🔄SPY, QQQ, DIA and GLD | Growth vs Value | The Great Sector Rotation Is On But Don’t Sleep on the Growth Comeback with these Option Strategies
Three trading days. One clear message.
If you blinked over the past three trading days, you missed one of the cleanest value - outperformance signals of the year.
From the November 7 close to November 12:
$SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average Trust (DIA.US)$ (Dow Jones / Value proxy): +2.75%
$SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY.US)$ (S&P 500): +1.85%
$Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ.US)$ (Nasdaq-100 / Growth proxy): +1.86%
That’s 90 basis points of pure alpha from the Dow over the growth-heavy indices in just three sessions. Financials, industrials, and energy led the charge while the Mag7 consolidated. Classic rotation.
And yes — gold is spiking. $SPDR Gold ETF (GLD.US)$
closed at $385.99 on Nov 12. Safe-haven bid, dollar weakness, geopolitical noise — markets are hedging even as equities grind higher. This isn’t noise. It’s the textbook “Great Rotation” from growth to value.
But Here’s the Plot Twist: Seasonality Says Growth Gets the Last Laugh?
We’re in Week 46 — historically a coin-flip week (50/50 bullish/bearish). The next three weeks? Absolute fire.
🔄SPY, QQQ, DIA and GLD | Growth vs Value | The Great Sector Rotation Is On But Don’t Sleep on the Growth Comeback with these Option Strategies
SPY Historical data (2015–2024):
Week 47 (Thanksgiving week): 60% bullish, avg +1.66% (40% bearish years average -1.75%)
Week 48: 80% bullish, avg +1.62% (20% bearish years average -1.02%)
Week 49: 80% bullish, avg +1.29% (20% bearish years average -3.87%)
My Simple Thesis?
1. Value is winning now (short sprint).
2. Seasonality wins next → money comes back to growth stocks before year-end.
3. Growth will catch up fast after Thanksgiving.
Growth is lagging — which means it’s potentially setting up for the seasonal sprint.
Bull Call Spread
Defined risk, tight breakeven

Bull Put Spread
Alternative if conservative (credit, better probability, theta gang)

So that’s what I’m thinking — value’s had its moment, but seasonality might hand the baton back to growth before year-end.
How about you — do you think value keeps running, or will growth make its comeback?
