Slow Market Manages Closing Records for S&P 500 and Dow | Wall Street Today
The S&P 500 and Dow Jones hit record-high closes during a very slow post-Thanksgiving trading day.
Just past 1 am ET the $S&P 500 Index (.SPX.US)$ traded +0.56%, the $Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI.US)$ climbed 0.42%, and the $Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC.US)$ climbed 0.83%.
SECTORS
$Crude Oil Futures(JAN5) (CLmain.US)$ climbed but still remained below $70/barrel.
$Bitcoin (BTC.CC)$ climbed to 98, up 2% before falling back to 96k, still struggling on its way to the hard-to-break 100k level. Gold and silver climbed. $U.S. 2-Year Treasury Notes Yield (US2Y.BD)$ and the $U.S. 10-Year Treasury Notes Yield (US10Y.BD)$ fell.
MOOVERS
$MARA Holdings (MARA.US)$ climbed alongside Bitcoin.
On Wednesday, $Grifols (GRFS.US)$ said it ended discussions with Brookfield Capital Partners (UK) Limited about a potential acquisition.
$Super Micro Computer (SMCI.US)$ fell again, still facing high volatility.
Retailers were hopeful for good Black Friday sales. $Ralph Lauren (RL.US)$ was the highest advancing stock on the S&P 500 by percentage, up 3%.
