Singapore shares dip at Wednesday’s open
Singapore stocks opened slightly lower on Wednesday (Dec 6) after global equities closed largely on a positive note.
$FTSE Singapore Straits Time Index(.STI.SG$ was down 2.23 points or 0.1 per cent to 3,074.93. Across the broader market, gainers were on par with losers at 47 each, with 21.2 million securities worth S$33.3 million changing hands.
$Seatrium(S51.SG$ was the most actively traded counter by volume. It remained flat at S$0.101 with 3.5 million of its shares moved.
Watchlisted $SMI Vantage(Y45.SG$ rose S$0.03 or 6.3 per cent to S$0.051, while $Koh Eco(5HV.SG$ gained S$0.001 or 4.6 per cent to S$0.023.
Wall Street stocks finished mixed on Tuesday after Treasury yields dipped on data suggesting a cooling of the US jobs market.
$Dow Jones Industrial Average(.DJI.US$ finished 0.2 per cent lower at 36,124.56. The broad-based $S&P 500 Index(.SPX.US$ slipped 0.1 per cent to 4,567.18, while the tech-rich $Nasdaq Composite Index(.IXIC.US$ added 0.3 per cent at 14,229.91.
