🎤 Could you start by telling us a bit about yourself? When did you first get involved in stocks and options, and what motivated you to enter this field?
Hi, mooers. I'm Yoyo, 20 years old and a college sophomore majoring in Supply Chain Management. I'm based in the Midwest of the United States. I seriously started studying stocks and options around November last year, but my first real awareness of investing came when I was about 10 years old, largely inspired by my family. I'm relatively new to the field of investment compared to many others.
I believe my strength is performing calculations, including assessing probabilities and risk-reward ratios. My area for improvement is in gaining deeper professional knowledge. I trade options, and while I engage in this activity, I acknowledge that I have not delved deeply into some fundamental concepts, such as gamma and theta. It's important to recognize that investment involves risk. Beginners can potentially avoid losses, but even seasoned investors are not immune to financial setbacks. It's also worth noting that it's not rare for investors, despite years of experience, to experience annual losses, sometimes significantly impacting their financial stability.

🎤 How did you come across moomoo? Was it through a friend's recommendation or an online search? What motivated you to register and start using this platform?
I first came across moomoo through numerous advertisements across various apps. After registering, it naturally progressed to me gradually investing money and then starting to actively use the platform.
🎤 Do you remember your first trade on moomoo? Can you share some details and feelings about that experience?
My first trade on moomoo was purchasing a share of $Tesla (TSLA.US)$. I only held it for a few minutes before selling it. At that time, I was completely unfamiliar with the rules and ended up making 35 trades on the same day, ultimately earning just a few dollars. I'm open about this experience; everyone has to start somewhere, and I'm not embarrassed by the learning process.
🎤 How did you initially learn to invest after starting to use moomoo? Which tools or resources on the platform were particularly helpful?
When I started investing with moomoo, my approach was largely exploratory, and much of my learning came from personal experience, which included learning from my own financial mistakes. One unique aspect of moomoo that I found interesting is the comments section, where users actively share their insights and sometimes debate different views. This can be a valuable resource for understanding diverse perspectives on trading.
As for the tools and resources available on the platform, they are similar to what you might find on other investment platforms. While additional features are available through paid subscriptions, I did not find it necessary to utilize these paid services to engage with the platform effectively.
🎤 How has your experience been with the Moomoo? Are there specific features that have enabled you to make informed trading decisions? What improvements would you suggest to enhance the trading experience on Moomoo?
My experience with Moomoo has been generally positive. I appreciate the clear, user-friendly interface and aesthetic elements like the platform's mascot. The break-even point and profitability probability tools on the platform have been beneficial in aiding my decision-making process for a diverse range of investment options, including stocks, futures, and options.

To enhance the platform further, I believe additional educational content focused on options trading strategies would be valuable, particularly for users interested in navigating different market conditions. Improving the paper-trading feature to better mimic real market fluctuations could also enrich the user experience.
My engagement with Moomoo extends to advanced options trading strategies. Specifically, I focus on both buying and selling options, utilizing the platform's robust tools to analyze market conditions. For example, when trading options on broad indexes, which tend to be less volatile than individual stocks, I adopt strategies that might seem counterintuitive, such as selling options during periods of high volatility to capitalize on greater potential profits.
My approach involves detailed simulation of various trading scenarios to help forecast profitability. Although I follow both the Random Walk and Wave Theories, I adapt elements from each to fit my trading philosophy, particularly the idea that markets consist of numerous fluctuations.
One of my primary strategies is the use of options straddles, which involves extensive calculations to determine the most opportune moments to enter the market, particularly at the opening when volatility is highest. My analysis covers multiple stocks and incorporates various strategies and pricing levels, adding significant complexity to my trading approach.
Future research will explore single-leg options strategies for high-volatility environments, aiming to leverage extreme market movements for potentially high returns. I advocate a calculation-intensive approach, as I believe this method maximizes the likelihood of achieving expected returns, tailored to individual risk profiles.

🎤 You mainly trade put options in your daily transactions. Can you describe the reasons for choosing this strategy and the process behind choosing it?
In my daily trading activities, I often focus on purchasing put options. This strategy isn't solely based on market analysis; it also includes my observations of market sentiment and speculative behaviors. For example, when I see overly optimistic price targets in comments for companies like $NVIDIA (NVDA.US)$ and $Tesla (TSLA.US)$, it influences my decision to lean toward put options. My intention is to counteract what I perceive as market euphoria, which I believe is not grounded in realistic expectations of market movements. It's important to remember that while stocks generally appreciate over time, the daily incremental growth is minimal.
🎤 Considering the high volatility involved in your strategy, how do you manage such fluctuations? Do you employ a particular risk management strategy?
In my trading activities, which often involve high-volatility assets, my approach to managing fluctuations is deeply influenced by my experience and current financial situation. I do not follow a traditional risk management framework; instead, I focus heavily on pre-trade calculations to comprehensively assess potential risks and outcomes. While I acknowledge the importance of disciplined risk management techniques such as stop-loss orders, I continually strive to improve in this area. It's important for each investor to recognize their comfort with risk and to develop or follow risk management strategies that align with their investment goals and market conditions.
🎤 How do you pinpoint the right moments to buy or sell? Are there specific indicators or tools you depend on to guide these decisions?
In my trading practice, I rely heavily on observing the initial market trends, which are often established within the first 15 minutes of trading. This observation is primarily based on the angle and movement of the first candlestick. When considering selling, especially when holding a profitable position, I look for clear reversal signals before deciding to exit the trade.
The primary tool I use to assist my decisions is the StochRSI indicator. I prefer to keep my technical analysis simple and focused, as I find that using too many indicators can lead to confusion and misinterpretations. This approach is especially pertinent in the U.S. stock market, where, in my experience, the effectiveness of technical analysis can vary significantly depending on the stock's popularity and market conditions.
🎤 What kind of challenges have you encountered during your trading sessions? How do you tackle these hurdles and adjust your strategies accordingly?
I encountered several challenges during my trading sessions, with significant financial losses. To manage stress and maintain focus, I often engage in activities like gaming to distract myself briefly. More importantly, when facing losses, I assess whether it's best to continue holding the position or to exit. Post-trade, I dedicate time to analyzing my decisions to understand what could have been done differently, ensuring that similar mistakes are not repeated.
🎤 Could you share a memorable trading experience, detailing perhaps your most successful or challenging trades (One most successful + one challenging trade)? What lessons did these experiences impart?
One of my most memorable successful trading experiences occurred when one major market index experienced a significant drop. I had made a strategic purchase, which fortuitously resulted in a return seven times my initial investment, though the initial amount was minimal.

On the other hand, one of my most challenging experiences involved trading during $NVIDIA (NVDA.US)$'s earnings announcement. Influenced by the optimistic sentiments in the comment sections, I opted to buy call options at $165. Unfortunately, this decision led to considerable losses. Although the loss might seem minor to some, it was significant for me and difficult to process emotionally. This experience underscored the importance of doing independent research rather than relying on public sentiment, and it highlighted the risks associated with trading around earnings announcements.
🎤 What guidance would you offer someone just starting out with trading?
For new traders, here are some guidelines based on my own experiences, even though I consider myself still somewhat of a beginner:
When you start, assume the money you invest might not come back. It's like throwing it into the water; if you get something back, it's not solely due to your effort but because the market favored you. Remember, easy come, easy go. Always be prepared to lose your initial "tuition fee," but don't become numb to losses. The more you lose initially, the bigger the mindset shift you'll need.
Begin with small investments. If you can prove that your strategy works in small amounts, you can gradually increase your investment as your confidence and skills grow. On the other hand, starting big without proven skills only leads to bigger losses.
Following others blindly often means picking up leftovers. You don't know their true intentions or strategies, and they are not obligated to lead you to profit. Find your own effective method; there are many investment strategies out there, and you need to find one that suits you.
Understand that stocks don't rise because of wishful thinking. There's always a trend, and successful traders adapt to these trends, not the other way around.
Having a lot of experience doesn't necessarily equate to making more money. Excessive experience can sometimes be a burden and inversely proportional to success. Some people might double their investments in a month; if experience alone made one rich, then seasoned traders would be exponentially wealthier.
If you find that you have more profitable days than losing ones, stick strictly to your strategy. However, if you're consistently losing money, it's time to consider that your 'experience' might be a burden. Treat yourself as a beginner and rethink your approach entirely.
