NVIDIA's ambition goes beyond chips to promote “AI+ healthcare”

NVIDIA announced that it has signed an agreement with Johnson & Johnson to utilize generative artificial intelligence (AI) for surgery, and an agreement with GE Healthcare to improve medical imaging. In GTC 2024, NVIDIA's development in healthcare (including the announcement of approximately 24 new AI healthcare tools) showed how important healthcare is for future profit opportunities in NVIDIA's non-technology fields.

Raj Joshi, Moody's senior vice president of ratings, said, “The reason NVIDIA is so popular today is basically because it provides infrastructure and technology for things that weren't possible until now. Healthcare is a very strong field, whether it's biotechnology, chemistry, or drug discovery.”

Just as NVIDIA's stock price has risen nearly 100% since the beginning of this year, the biotech sector is an example of untapped potential that investors continue to bet on. Artificial intelligence can speed up the process of drug development and even discover applications for pharmaceuticals that may not be effective against diseases originally developed as targets.
