Will Nvidia's GTC Be the Game-Changer Investors Crave?
Since the start of 2025, $NVIDIA (NVDA.US)$ has faced a volatile ride. Tariffs, export restrictions, and rising competition from DeepSeek’s R1 model have rattled investor confidence.
With enthusiasm for AI cooling and risk-off sentiment intensifying, all eyes are on Nvidia’s GPU Technology Conference (GTC) next week. Could this flagship event reignite momentum in a faltering AI sector?
Jensen Huang’s Keynote Looms Large
Nvidia’s GTC, running from March 17 to 21, is set to kick off next week. Dubbed the “AI Woodstock,” this cornerstone tech event attracts developers, engineers, and investors globally. It’s Nvidia’s platform to showcase groundbreaking innovations—from GPU advancements to AI breakthroughs—that define the future of computing.
CEO Jensen Huang’s keynote, scheduled for March 18 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. PDT, is the centerpiece. Known for setting bold tones, Huang’s address is a bellwether for Nvidia’s stock and a must-watch for market participants. Melius analyst Ben Reitzes is optimistic, predicting a “positive long-term tone” from the event.
“We expect a clear GPU innovation roadmap, including successors to the current Blackwell lineup like ‘Blackwell Ultra’ and its GB300 system (optimized for inference with expanded memory), the ‘Rubin’ GPU slated for 2026, an Arm-based CPU dubbed ‘Vera,’ and a sneak peek at 2027 plans,” Reitzes wrote in a note.
For investors, GTC is a window into Nvidia’s growth trajectory. Historically, the conference has been a market mover—past events triggered rallies with reveals like the DGX AI supercomputer and Hopper GPU architecture. Data shows Nvidia’s stock has risen in 87.5% of the last eight annual GTCs, with gains ranging from -0.6% to 22%.
Even with a sluggish start to 2025, Nvidia’s Blackwell product cycle is picking up momentum, bolstering its valuation appeal. “The AI group’s momentum has clearly pivoted for now,” Bernstein analyst Stacy Rasgon wrote last week. “Yet spending intentions continue to climb, a product cycle is just beginning, and GTC is weeks away.”
Rasgon maintains an “outperform” rating with a $185 price target. Trading at about 25 times forward earnings—the lowest in a year and near a decade low—Rasgon spots a prime entry point. “Investors have historically profited by entering at 25x or below,” he emphasized.

Beyond the Keynote: Quantum Day and More
GTC’s agenda extends beyond Huang’s speech. Highlights include a virtual “China AI Day,” sessions on smart driving, AI healthcare, and robotics, and the debut of “Quantum Day” on March 20. Nvidia aims to leverage Quantum Day to deepen partnerships and advance quantum computing technology.
On March 20 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. PDT, Huang will join a panel with quantum computing leaders, including $D-Wave Quantum (QBTS.US)$ CEO Alan Baratz, $IonQ Inc (IONQ.US)$ Executive Chairman Peter Chapman, $Rigetti Computing (RGTI.US)$ CEO Subodh Kulkarni, and $Amazon (AMZN.US)$ quantum tech GM Simone Severini, to discuss the field’s present and future.
As Nvidia navigates a turbulent market, GTC could prove a pivotal moment—either reinforcing its leadership or signaling tougher times ahead.

10baggerbamm : there's nothing that Jensen can say that will revive in Nvidia. he needs to address the question during the conference call are the present margins at 71% the low and they will gradually improve in the second third quarter and 4th quarter will peak at 75 plus percent again or will they continue to decline in q2q3 and then you're going to get a resurgence above 75 and Q4. it's all anybody wants to hear and that's the question he avoided during the conference call and that's why the stock immediately started a tailspin yeah everything else is the market but when he didn't answer that question he in effect did answer that question which means the margins will continue to degrade in the second quarter and the third quarter and then he hopes come next February 2026 because that's when the earnings are going to come out you're basically flushing this entire calendar year in the trash right now he hopes next February they'll be about 75 again.
so the bottom line is there's nothing that he can say a GTC that will make a damn bit of difference

BelleWeather : Still one of the strongest companies in the world. Losing status as a momentum trade based on current conditions and Jensen remaining a holdout (not joining the technocrats,) doesn’t change the incredible profitability and strength bourn out for a decade.
