$NIO Inc(NIO.US$ Its not just battery swap, its avoiding queues of people waiting for charging which could be hours long on a busy charging station. secondly fast charging reduces the life of battery. Battery swapping is backed by slow charging of batteries, repair/changing damaged cells and can also result in lower vehicle depreciation as EVs now (without swapping) are depreciating more than 35-40% in first two years of their use as on resale people suspect the battery being damaged by fast charges. Overall battery swap is the more sustainable solution for better battery utilization, lower vehicle depreciation, convenience in managing mass transport including long distance heavy vehicles and build a sustainable ecosystem around lithium or other mineral which would be in limited availability in the world and will finish one day. Extended battery life is key to the last point.

VIVEK SURANA : It may be beneficial for the owner, but it will always be loss making buisness for compamy. As soon as the company increases the rent, people will stop buying new cars , so there is no leverage. You can look at a recent example where NiO has to reduce the rent for all the customers to improve the demand.

Teck Wang Pang PaPa TMW1986: They help to generate electricity too and helps Nio driver save juice prices as they can store energy more if electricity tariff is low no like petrol or diesel price going up or down. Other EV super charges don't store energy so if this week electricity prices are high, you pay higher and quick super chargers cost even more.
