NCT Alliance Takes Strategic Step into High-Growth Energy Storage Sector

Property developer NCT Alliance Berhad has marked an important milestone in its expansion into the renewable energy and data centre ecosystem with a new strategic collaboration.

The Group announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, NCT Land Sdn Bhd (NLSB), has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Guangzhou Great Power Energy & Technology Co. Ltd. (Great Power) on 28 January 2026. The agreement sets the stage for potential collaboration in the design, supply and technical support of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for data centre and solar power plant projects across Malaysia.

For the record, Great Power is a well-established Chinese energy technology and battery manufacturer, founded in 2001 and headquartered in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. With more than two decades of experience, the company specialises in advanced battery technologies and energy storage solutions serving industrial, commercial and consumer markets worldwide.

Under the MOA, both parties will explore opportunities to deepen their collaboration, including the possible establishment of a local assembly or production facility in Malaysia. This facility could be located within NCT’s industrial parks, allowing Great Power to expand its production lines and strengthen its localised manufacturing and supply capabilities.

In other words, NCT may lease space within NCT Smart Industrial Park to Great Power for the setting up of a local office. This facility could serve multiple purposes, including product display and technology demonstration, warehousing, logistics operations, and after-sales support, further enhancing Great Power’s presence in the Malaysian market.

All specific commercial arrangements, including lease terms, delivery structures and other contractual details, will be finalised at a later stage, subject to further negotiations and the necessary internal approvals from both parties.

In conclusion, this collaboration reflects NCT Alliance’s strategic intent to position its industrial parks as hubs for high-value, future-ready industries, particularly in renewable energy, energy storage and data centre infrastructure. If successfully executed, the partnership could create long-term value for NCT while supporting Malaysia’s broader transition towards sustainable energy solutions.
