SkyInvestor : It is better to invest on s&p 500 than this fund. The fund manager is profiting from managing our fund while we are losing big money. Seriously, my friends put in s&p 500 is profiting rather than this UT. Not sure whether the fund manager is really managing properly
Thy GoDOP SkyInvestor: That doesn't really answer my question.
VineetKumarGupta : The fund has monthly dividend distributions. This may be accounting for the 76% in spite of falling NAV.
Thy GoDOP VineetKumarGupta: Yeah I learnt smthn new, I didn't notice all fund performances took into account dividends.
VineetKumarGupta SkyInvestor: I did back testing by constructing a portfolio with $Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO.US)$ and investment grade bond fund in the ratio of 40 and 60%. Allianz fund gave good return in rising market compared to hybrid portfolio. But Allianz fund fell much harder during the falling market, thereby erasing most of the gains. In the end, return are much lower over 5 years inspite of higher volatility.
Thy GoDOP VineetKumarGupta: Thanks for the insights, I'll be moving to a less dividend reliant fund.
VineetKumarGupta Thy GoDOP: Remember, income fund shall first preserve capital and then distribute dividends from gains. This fund entice investors with higher dividend but at the cost of capital depreciation.
SkyInvestor VineetKumarGupta: Now it is lower dividend and eat into our capital. Is a good point to start dca? Or should I start investing on other assets?
VineetKumarGupta SkyInvestor: It depends on your expected returns, time frame and at what average price have you bought.
What I can say there are better opportunities to invest in the market. Also, I always recommend to keep investment simple so that I can earn in a steadily manner over long run.
