My Weekly Top 5 Funds (5/5/2024) - Different Strategy Payoff.. back in the game.

What did I do differently this cycle?

1. US market had a major correction two weeks ago, due to geopolitical risk, strong economic data, policy rate is expected to hold higher for longer.

2. My view: market sentiment reflected in the share price two weeks ago was a manifestation of greed and fear. Whether there is 5 cuts or 1 cut this year, the interest rate cycle has peak. What goes up will come down, what goes down will go back up, eventually.

3. Intelligent and patient investors should not be affected by short term sentiments. But long term investors should take advantage of the negative sentiments in favor of them.

4. As such, for this month’s investment cycle I’ve decided to do lump sum investment instead of daily $100 DCA. I will continue to do lump sum in the next cycle as long as my total return is lower than my high watermark of ROI $9,457 which was achieved in March.

5. Reason is simple. I took advantage of cheap price to buy more units because i believe this correction is irrational. I am certain, hence lump sum this month. When you are certain, you do lump sum investment.

6. When I am uncertain, I will DCA. In a uptrend market, DCA will underperform lump sum, thats the fact. But think of it as cost you paid for uncertainty.

Strategy: Daily DCA $100/ day (exclude weekend), invest only in fund with proven annualized return of 5-6% pa, no commodities, gold, banks & properties, daily DCA on laggard first, then leaders and repeat the cycle, min: 23 funds, max: 30 funds.
