My thoughts on stock market investing:
1) If you simply invest in companies that you don't understand, it's similar to gambling.
2) If on a red packet day for the stock market (a sea of red), Real Estate Investment Trust (REITs) tend to be a stabilising factor most of the time.
3) Price volatilities are just noise, the most important factor is the fundamentals of a company (e.g. Net Income, EPS, dividend yield, Net Assets).
4) Don't buy a particular share when everyone is rushing to buy in, or you'll be in for a disappointment once correction takes place.
5) Try and compare the current share price against its fair value of the shares, then you'll find potential value in it to gain. Dividends are a bonus if it comes with the stock.
