📈 My Journey of the $1,000 Small Capital Challenge | Strategy + Profit and Loss Record Sharing
My small capital challenge started with $1,000. When I first began trading, I thought I could make money relying solely on intuition, but reality hit me hard — as shown in the screenshot, my current cumulative profit and loss stands at -$863, with losses mainly coming from early emotional trades chasing highs, such as DFLI, ADAPY, and other biotech stocks.
However, trading is never just about profit and loss; it's about growth.
🌱 My Goal
Aiming to increase the account balance by 50% within 30 days (from USD 1,000 to USD 1,500), not seeking excessive profits but prioritizing consistent and stable growth.
🧠 Strategy Rationale (Revised)
1. No longer chasing high-profile trends; focus will be on small-cap stocks with clear trends and fundamental support.
2. Implement strict stop-loss discipline (maximum loss per trade should not exceed 3–5%).
3. Leverage the experience gained from the top five profitable trades to further strengthen advantages, such as:
• Australian Oilseeds +194
• Critical Metals +176
• Bitfarms +98
These are examples where trends and market news were well-aligned.
4. For the largest loss-making positions, I have also reviewed the reasons again, such as
• Dragonfly Energy -659
• Adaptimmune -336
→ Mainly due to significant fluctuations in news sentiment, excessive position size, and failure to stop losses in time.
📊 Trading Growth Record (including screenshots of profits and losses)
I have attached a recent profit and loss analysis chart, which shows:
• Total Profit: +474.01
• Total Loss: -1,337.10
• Win Rate: 50%
Although losses outweigh gains, each review helps me better understand my weaknesses and reinforces the importance of discipline over prediction.
💬 Growth in Mindset
In the past, I would panic at the slightest drop and become greedy at a small rise. Now, I’ve learned to view trading as a long-term skill—not a gamble, but a psychological battle with myself.
I hope to gradually recover my losses in the future by adopting a more stable approach.
