This article looks at the performance of three model portfolios, first constructed in September 2025.

On 28 July the US super 10 portfolio (+9.20%) was languishing badly. The newly re-balanced portfolio fell further, and its return since inception dropped to 1.01%. However since then an almost portfolio-wide outperformance saw the US super 10 roar back to life, and deliver the best return over the period.
Here’s how each portfolio performed between 28 July and 14 August:

Portfolio performance
The table shows that every portfolio performed well, but the high beta US portfolio performed exactly as designed – to win more when markets are rising, at the risk of losing more when markets fall.
The simple elegance of the 3 stock portfolio (+33.98%) continues to lead overall, with two of the three stocks significantly higher ( $BHP Group Ltd (BHP.AU)$ and $ANZ Group Holdings Ltd (ANZ.AU)$ ), while $Wesfarmers Ltd (WES.AU)$ has returned to flat.
The core and satellite (+14.65%) is also living up to its mandate as an all-weather portfolio. All four of the core holdings are in the profit ($BetaShares NASDAQ 100 ETF (NDQ.AU)$, $Vanguard Australian Shares High Yld ETF (VHY.AU)$, $Global X Physical Gold Structured (GOLD.AU)$, $iShares Core S&P/ASX 200 ETF (IOZ.AU)$), although the satellites continue to disappoint.
But it’s the US super 10 that demands attention. Evey single stock rose over this 17 day period. Now, seven out of eight holdings are in profit. (Although we have closed a number of losing positions, the losses stay with the portfolio). And the biggest performer was the previous biggest problem – $SpaceX (SPCX.US)$ :

US super 10 portfolio - 17 day returns
The stronger rises in $NVIDIA (NVDA.US)$ and $Marvell Technology (MRVL.US)$ were also important to the lift in the portfolio return.
There is an obvious imbalance here. The double weighting in $Alphabet-C (GOOG.US)$ has paid off, and it is the third best performer overall. The question for the moomoo Community – is it time to lock in these gains and redeploy?
One consideration is that we chopped $Microsoft (MSFT.US)$ and $Meta Platforms (META.US)$ to overweight $Alphabet-C (GOOG.US)$ . The lack of $Microsoft (MSFT.US)$ was costly, although cutting $Meta Platforms (META.US)$ saved the performance.
Here are some options – tell us the best way to handle this situation. If your choice is "Selling 1/2 GOOG, buy other" tell us what the "other" is in the comments below
