Money Makes My Heart Go 'Bedok Bedok'
So I was treated to an evening filled with enriching talks and engaging insights into the world of investing again. Organized by East Coast GRC and Seedly.
The event began with the delightful surprise of goodie bags and a buffet spread, which unfortunately left me torn.
I had already had satay bee hoon and tang yuan prior to the event, so I initially hesitated to partake in the buffet.
I had assumed the event was sponsored by Moomoo, expecting a Grain order that I could take away instead. However, to my surprise, the buffet was filled with an array of mouthwatering dishes that I simply couldn't resist.
Despite my best intentions, I ended up sampling a bit of everything, leading to a bloated stomach from my overindulgence.
The lemon juice was catered to my sweet tooth. Although my stomach may have regretted the indulgence, I couldn't miss out on the delectable spread. Tomorrow calls for fasting to counteract my gluttony!
Overall, a big thank you to the organizers for the scrumptious spread!
The panel discussion focused on "Assessing Your Investing Risk in 2024 and Beyond," providing valuable insights into financial planning and securing one's future. For beginners, you can check out the Seedly Money Framework mentioned briefly in the talk. An interesting insight was the variance in life expectancy between genders, with men having shorter lifespans on average in Singapore. I always want to pass away first, I don't want to be left alone and neither do I want to deal with grief again.

Next, learning about the longevity of some Singaporeans, with over 1500 individuals above the age of 100, was truly eye-opening.
While the event catered more towards beginners in financial planning, I found the discussions on S&P500 ETF and retirement planning to be informative.

However, the thought of planning too far ahead, especially in light of unforeseen events like Covid and Disease X, left me contemplating the balance between future planning and living in the present.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the event and appreciated the opportunity to expand my knowledge on investing. And of course, who can resist the allure of a goodie bag?
