SpyderCall : This volume ratio usually falls off throughout the day unless the momentum is very strong. Usually Relative Volume will be high when there is a catalyst of some sort like an FDA announcement, earnings, significant news, etc.
For example, the CPI data yesterday sent most stock volume flying yesterday. The volume ratio was high for a lot of stocks.
