On December 1, NIO's official Weibo account, "NIO Little Trumpet," released a statement regarding the Shanghai vehicle collision accident.
The statement said that both users received timely medical attention and are not in life-threatening condition.
At the time of the accident, the NIO vehicle's driver assistance system was not activated. After the collision, the doors automatically unlocked and the door handles automatically popped open. There was no safety risk to the vehicle's battery. The police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
According to Xinhua News Agency, on December 1st, a NIO EC6 in Shanghai was involved in a collision, resulting in the rear half of the vehicle breaking apart. Surveillance footage shows the vehicle suddenly changed lanes and ultimately crashed into the roadside median. Multiple videos from the scene show the vehicle did not catch fire, all airbags deployed, and the yellow high-voltage wiring harness was severed.
