Live Stock News: Short Week with a Slow Start
Happy Tuesday, investors; it's February 18th, a shortened week for stock trading that will see the largest retailers in the world report. The market struggles to get out of bed and move this morning, but what is holding it back? Let's look at Live Stock News and find out:
$Super Micro Computer (SMCI.US)$ climbed about 11%. The troubled firm posted unaudited earnings last week above estimates and said its 2026 revenue would be $40 billion- $10 billion more than Wall Street Expected. Of course, the firm cut its current year guidance by $5 billion. Wedbush and JP Morgan analysts raised their price targets, while Needham Anlysts suspended their guidance until the firm finally released its full-year results from June.
$Intel (INTC.US)$ climbed 8% after weekend news reported by the Wall Street Journal that Broadcom and Tawain Semiconductor were discussing the idea of splitting the firm into controlled stakes- TSMC running the factories, while Broadcom runs the chip design and marketing.
$Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA.US)$ shares climbed 10% after CNBC’s David Faber said Tuesday its deal with Sycamore to go private was now back on the table.
$Grab Holdings (GRAB.US)$ shares climbed 6% in a lead-up to the firm's Q4 earnings this week. The Singapore government also released its year budget goals, stating a 50% corporate tax rebate that Benzinga attributed to Grab's climb.
Elsewhere in the economy,   $Crude Oil Futures(MAY5) (CLmain.US)$ climbed to $71/barrel, with News Presidents Trump and Putin were not speaking quite yet about the Ukraine war. Gold held the line less than $20 from an all time high, and treasuries climbed, $Bitcoin (BTC.CC)$ broke below its $97,000 level near midday.

Just past 12:30 pm ET the market was trying its best to climb, with the     $S&P 500 Index (.SPX.US)$ fell 0.01% the         $Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI.US)$ fell 0.18%, and the     $Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC.US)$ fell 0.17%.
In macro news, watch for Fed speakers this week and the FOMC meeting minutes Wednesday that will show what the committee was thinking, keeping rates the same in January.
Over the long weekend, users yesterday said they hoped Alibaba and Walmart retail earnings this Thursday would show signs of strength and even signs of AI tech. One user told me to back off from mentioning some declining stocks so they could sell before anyone saw- can't pick favorites, brother.
