Li Auto to plug into Huawei's charging network
Li Auto will be connected to Huawei's charging network as it plans to roll out more battery electric vehicle (BEV) models.
The Li Auto App's charging map will soon have access to nearly 200 Huawei supercharging stations, gaining access to about 400 4C superchargers and 2,000 2C fast chargers, the company announced today on Weibo.
C refers to the charging multiplier, and 4C means in theory that a vehicle can be fully charged in a quarter of an hour, although charging speeds are also limited by the vehicle's electrical system.
Li Auto will utilize Huawei's supercharging facilities to create the ultimate charging experience, the company said.
As of Apr 23, Li Auto has 371 charging stations and its charging map access to 72,120 third-party charging stations, it said.
Huawei currently has more than 20,000 supercharging piles, according to its Apr 15 WeChat post.
Li Auto, one of China's best-known extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) makers, launched the Li L6 on Apr 18, the latest EREV after the Li L7, Li L8, and Li L9.
EREVs are essentially plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), powered by smaller batteries than BEVs, but with a fuel tank and generator to provide extra mileage.
Li Auto launched the Li Mega MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) on March 1, its first BEV model.
The company will release three all-electric SUV models in the second half of the year, with standard 5C charging and a four-wheel-drive system, its management said in a Feb 26 earnings call.
Li Auto's Beijing plant, which began production in late 2023, is well-positioned for production of the Li Mega and subsequent all-electric models, management said on the call.
The company's L-series EREVs are currently produced at its plant in Changzhou, Jiangsu province.
Li Auto is testing a new BEV it will launch later this year that looks a lot like the Li Mega, according to spy shots that circulated on social media earlier today.
The car is definitely Li Auto's M9 or M8, auto blogger @韩路 wrote today when sharing these spy shots on Weibo.
