Large-scale reallocation of BTC custody

In March of this year, 4,986 BTC were moved, and in August, 5,014 BTC were moved, for a total of 10,000 BTC transferred to new wallets.

Such large-scale BTC custody reallocations have only occurred since the beginning of this year.

CEO Gerovich

explained, "We transferred 5,014 BTC between Metaplanet's custody addresses over the past 24 hours. This was routine custody operations."

However, such transfers have only taken place since the start of this year.

The natural question that arises from this is,

"If this is standard operating procedure, why hasn't it happened before?

And why have there been two sudden instances this year, each involving approximately 5,000 BTC?"

What follows is speculative, but

if Metaplanet is negotiating with lenders to expand its current $500 million credit facility, there is a rational explanation for this recent custodial reallocation.

It is possible that they are transferring BTC designated as collateral for additional financing into a specified custody environment to strengthen their collateral management framework (this is purely hypothetical).

Given that the current $500 million facility is 83% utilized, such a move would not be unusual for a company with strong funding needs.

To take the speculation further, since 10,000 BTC is worth approximately $630 million, assuming an LTV of 25%, we might see an IR announcement regarding a $150 million increase in the credit facility.

It is important to keep in mind that if the credit facility is increased, the economic claim of common shareholders on company assets could become more subordinated.
