HSI Opens 31 pts High; BABA Rises 3%
Hong Kong stocks opened higher this morning (6th) after it was reported that China restricted trading by domestic and foreign institutional investors to curb the stock market plunge. $Hang Seng Index(800000.HK$ opened 31 points or 0.2% higher at 15,541. $Hang Seng China Enterprises Index(800100.HK$ opened 13 points or 0.3% higher at 5,230, and $Hang Seng TECH Index(800700.HK$ opened 11 points or 0.4% higher at 3,050.
On the tech front, $BABA-SW(09988.HK$ , which is due to announce its quarterly results, opened 3% higher at $72.8. $TENCENT(00700.HK$ opened 0.1% higher at $279.8, $BIDU-SW(09888.HK$ opened 0.1% lower at $100.8, and $MEITUAN-W(03690.HK$ opened 0.5% lower. $NTES-S(09999.HK$ and $JD-SW(09618.HK$ opened 1.2% and 1.3% higher.
