Yes it is true. What they also do is to close position and drop the price to scare investors to sell then they get the shares again. Institutions are usually in the DP which currently affects more of the price than market shorts. It was not the original intention of its creation but greed is taking over. We only win when we hold. They will do Stop Loss Hunt for those who set up stop loss. That way when stop loss is triggered, it freed up the shares
