Happy Fathers Day!

I can honestly say my dad impacted my life more than any other person. I miss him very much and I squeeze my kids extra tight every morning because I know what it is to regret not doing it more often 😔
He was not an investor per se, my grandpa was the one who put that in my mind buying shares for my daughter, but I couldnt invest without taking down debt and saving money for capital...lessons I got from dad.  He came from nothing but was a very hard worker, and, just like many Aussies, would rely on Superannuation for investments and growth rather than look at the stockmarket. But his personal philosophies about money are always in the back of my mind.
He made a point of not wasting money on cheap things that will need replacing, he'd rather 'make do and go without' until he could afford quality that would last. He avoided getting into  debt, and he was extremely intelligent and crafty. As an engineer he loved to make things with his hands, like wood or sandstone sculptures, also rebuilding an old model Harley Davidson to his own specifications.
His balance, discipline and willingness to "go without little things now for a bigger purpose later" are things I apply to investing today. If I have a few 'spare' dollars, it gets put aside to invest with now. As a mum I have always been good at saving when needed, but now I'm learning to put some savings to work for me. I wouldn't have been able to achieve that without the fundamentals of saving and prioritising money management
So, thank you Dad xox.
A huge Happy Fathers Day to all the men out there with the real life lessons they pass down
