Geely Livan 7: lowest priced EV with lidar
Geely Livan 7 all-electric SUV with battery swap and first China-made chip launched.
Geely officially launched its brand-new flagship Livan 7 all-electric compact SUV in China. A total of six models were launched, priced from 117,700 – 173,700 yuan (16,100 – 23,700 USD), making it the only model under the 200,000 yuan price point equipped with lidars in the world. All modes support battery swap.
The new car has satellite-assisted positioning launched as part of the "Geely Future Mobility Constellation". These first satellites are part of a planned constellation – the "Geely Future Mobility Constellation". The Constellation will consist of 240 satellites, with the first phase of 72 satellites expected to be placed in orbit by 2025. The second phase will follow consisting of 168 satellites.
The cockpit's computing platform is equipped with Geely's self-developed Dragon Eagle-1 automotive-grade 7nm chip, which is China's first domestically developed automotive-grade 7nm chip.
Furthermore, the cockpit features an automatic fragrance system and driver fatigue monitoring.
Additionally, the car supports both fast charging and battery swap. Geely claimed that fast charging from 30% to 80% takes 30 minutes while the battery swap only takes 60 seconds.

ZnWC : Volvo owner Geely is blacklisted by Ukraine, Dagens industri reports. The Chinese automotive giant still sells vehicles in Russia and pays taxes in the country. This is sponsoring the Russian war machine, according to the Ukrainian anti-corruption agency NAZK.
“The company’s leadership has in no way condemned Russia’s aggressive and unjust war against Ukraine,” writes NAZK on its website. According to the authority, Geely’s sales in Russia doubled during the first three months of the year compared to the same period the year before.

ZnWC : Geely Auto brand EV dropped the whole battery pack while driving
CarNewsChina obtained a video of an EV’s battery pack falling off while driving. The video shows the car is Cao Cao 60, an electric vehicle dedicated to the ride-hailing and cab business. The Cao Cao Auto is a brand under Geely Holding and launched in March this year.
The car costs 119,800 yuan (17,500 USD) and has a 415 km CLTC range and a swappable battery.

Tesla is trying to solve autonomous driving with vision. LiDAR without HD maps is not useful. LiDAR is not the problem; HD Maps is the issue... For example, in the Waymo HD maps, engineers have to manually mark each driveway so that Waymo Autonomous Car doesn’t think it’s a road. It’s why Waymo vehicles are only in select few cities and work in a geofenced area that is pre-mapped. Those Level 5 Waymo Autonomous taxis do not work outside their pre-mapped area.
