From Classroom to Trading Floor|High School Students Are Learning to Invest—For Real
Hello mooers 👋👋
What does investing look like when you’re 16 years old?
For students in New York, it now looks a lot more real than you might expect.
Recently, PIX11 News featured the Student Stock Showdown — a financial literacy challenge jointly launched by Moomoo × W!se, bringing high school students into a real-time, simulated investing environment using Moomoo’s Paper Trading tools.

@Moomoo US CEO Neil recently appeared on New York's PIX11, one of New York's most influential media, reaching millions of viewers across the Tri-State area, to discuss this exciting initiative.
During the interview, @Moomoo US CEO Neil emphasized that high school students represent a group with a pressing need for financial literacy, yet one that is often overlooked. Moomoo's goal was to create a safe, hands-on learning environment where students can practice trading, build practical skills, and gain real-world experience. By doing so, the platform aims to empower next-gen to approach future financial decisions with greater confidence.
📺 We’ve attached two video clips below

🎓 “I didn’t know much about investing before… now I’m hooked.”
In the student interviews, the biggest change isn’t returns — it’s mindset.
Sixteen-year-old Julissa shared that she started the program with almost no investing knowledge. Just weeks in, she found herself actively following the market and thinking differently about money and decision-making.
Another participating student, Eric, put it in very simple terms:
“When I see the money going up, I feel like I’m going to be a millionaire.”
As their teacher said:
“This is a financial lesson that will last a lifetime.”
Through the challenge, students aren’t just watching charts.
They’re making decisions, tracking performance, and learning from real market movements — all in a risk-free environment.
🧠 Why Paper Trading makes a real difference
In the in-studio interview, the host highlighted why this program stands out, especially in communities that have historically had limited access to financial education.
@Moomoo US CEO Neil explained it simply:
“High school students really don’t have the tools or education to be able to make smart financial decisions… Giving these students actual real life real time experience of investing is ‘doing rather than just reading’ — that’s the secret why we think this paper trading contest is really taking up our education a notch.”
He also shared something many people might not expect:
“These high school students are using AI tools on Moomoo, which is a new feature on our app.”
🤝 Competition is the hook. Education is the core.
For W!se, the educational nonprofit behind the program, the mission goes well beyond a leaderboard.
W!se President & CEO David Anderson shared:
“One thing brought us together with Moomoo is there's a very strong educational component. It's a competition and kids get excited about that. But there's a real learning experience through tutorials that we created, and videos Moomoo team created, so the students are really learning as they go along.”
🌱 Investing in the next generation
This challenge reflects a broader shift:
Young people are entering the market earlier, learning faster, and engaging more deeply than ever before.
By combining education, technology, and hands-on experience, Student Stock Showdown shows what financial literacy can look like when it’s practical, inclusive, and empowering — especially in communities that have historically been underserved.
