Former AMD Executive Reveals NVIDIA Uses Market Position to Crowd Out Competition, Manipulate GPU Supply
Chip maker Groq recently accused Nvidia of unfair competition, saying it delays shipments to customers who also use AI processors from other vendors' data centers. The comments raised concerns in the industry, and Scott Herkelman, former vice president of AMD's graphics business unit, joined in the accusations, saying Nvidia has engaged in similar behavior in a number of areas and calling it a "GPU cartel," implying that it is monopolizing the market and manipulating supply.
IT House notes that Herkelman responded to a tweet from Tom's Hardware on social media by writing, "This happens more often than you think, and NVIDIA does it to data center customers, OEMs, AIC partners, media, and resellers. They learned their lesson from the previous GeForce Partner Program and will not put this behavior in their contracts, but will simply stop shipping when a customer places an order. They are the GPU cartel and control all supply." $NVIDIA(NVDA.US$ $Advanced Micro Devices(AMD.US$
