That said, although I don't have any direct coffee brands that I'm investing in, I do have stakes in them indirectly by buying into consumer defensive stocks like $The Kroger(KR.US$ and $Albertsons Companies(ACI.US$ .
Both of these are supermarket chains in the US which carry a large range of brands and products like coffee beans !
so I guess I'm a little tiny tiny stakeholder in coffees afterall :)
why did I buy consumer defensive stocks, specifically supermarkets?
well, I feel that this sector is something that is essential and will be valid for both the good economic times + bad economic times. just that the different products within the mart will be bought in different volumes dependent on the economy
Maybe more non-essentials like wine, desserts will be bought during good economic periods while more basic essentials will be bought during periods of crisis or bad times.
it's also like an etf in a way to me, since the supermarket doesn't carry a single brand like Starbucks or Toast Box, but carries a multitude of brands. hence, one brand could be doing poorly but performance is pulled up by other well-performing brands.
fav coffee flavour wld I guess be mocha?! cos a blend of two nice flavours. otherwise black kopi o :D no sugar no milk maybe?!
