FHFA House Price Index continues rising?

The FHFA House Price Index (FHPH) is a measure of the change in house prices for single-family homes purchased with conforming mortgages. It is published by the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA).

The FHPH is based on a sample of mortgages that have been purchased or guaranteed by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. The index is calculated using a repeat-sales methodology, which means that the same homes are re-appraised at multiple points in time. This helps to ensure that the changes in the index reflect actual changes in house prices, rather than changes in the composition of the sample.

So in simple terms, a higher FHPH index means better economic activity prospects.

So long as people can afford to buy homes, that means they are well-remunerated, and the general economy is healthy.

The latest June data showed the FHFA price index continued climbing

coming in at 405.8. U.S. house prices increased by 0.3% from the previous month and by 3.1% from one year ago. After adjusting for inflation, the real index is up 0.3% month-over-month and up 2.3% year-over-year.

This key piece of data continues to befuddle me - is the economic data good or uncertain right now?
