Professional organizations (TV stations, streaming services) spend money on content acquisition and creation. YouTube, a video website that mainly focuses on long-tail creators’ UGC, will also “purchase” content through advertising monetization and other methods.
So what is the size of these organizations’ content expenditures?
This chart that compares the content spending of traditional media content giants (Disney, Warner Discovery, NBCU, Paramount), large streaming media services (Netflix, Amazon, Apple) and UGC leaders (YouTube).
$10 billion in annual spending is the entry barrier.
Note: YouTube’s cost is not only UGC, but also the purchase of some film and television dramas and TV station copyrighted content.
