BYD Seal 06 reportedly to be 1st model with next-gen DM-i tech with over 2,000 km range

BYD's new model, the Seal 06, will be the first to feature the 5th-generation DM-i hybrid system of the new energy vehicle (NEV) maker, local automotive media Yiche reported.
The model will have a combined range of over 2,000 kilometres and is likely to consume less than 3 L per 100 kilometres at low charge as per NEDC standards, according to the report.
The report doesn't provide anything more on BYD's next-generation DM-i technology.
The Seal 06 has made it into a new model filing catalog published by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology last month, meaning it may not be too far from release.
The five-seater sedan measures 4,830 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,790 mm, according to the filing.
It has a total mass of 1,610 kilograms and a top speed of 180 km/h.
The model has an electric motor with a peak power of 120 kW and an engine with a displacement of 1,498 ml and 74 kW.
The NEV maker will introduce its fifth-generation DM system, of which the DM-i branch enables the vehicle to consume as little as 2.9 L per 100 kilometres of fuel, and can travel close to 2,000 kilometres on a full tank of fuel and full charge, the report said.
As the current model is in short supply, BYD will gradually make the switch to the fifth-generation DM model in May based on market conditions, Chairman Wang said at the time.
