GDS Holdings has established a significant partnership with Alibaba Group. In June 2017, they signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU), recognizing GDS as Alibaba's preferred data center provider in China. This agreement entails Alibaba prioritizing the procurement of data center resources and related services from GDS to support its cloud development plans. Additionally, both companies committed to jointly developing advanced industry standards for data center design and operations in China.

Further strengthening their collaboration, in November 2017, GDS announced the development of a new data center campus in Hebei province, China, specifically for Alibaba. The first phase of this project comprises approximately 5,000 square meters of IT capacity, fully committed to Alibaba's use.

This partnership highlights GDS Holdings' role as a key infrastructure provider for Alibaba's expanding cloud services in China.
