Bursa Malaysia Weekly Top Net Buy Stocks Analysis (Feb 13-16 2024)
During the week from February 13 to 16, 2024, foreign investors demonstrated a significant preference for Maybank: $MAYBANK(1155.MY)$ emerged as the top net buy stock for foreign investors with a substantial RM130 million, followed by $TENAGA(5347.MY)$ at RM45 million, $IHH(5225.MY)$ at RM42 million, $Telekom Malaysia FEB4(FTEL2402.MY)$ at RM40 million, and $MISC(3816.MY)$ at RM34 million. This trend highlights the continued confidence of foreign investors in Malaysian banking and healthcare stocks, with Telekom Malaysia securing investor interest for the sixth consecutive week, and CTOS for the third week in a row.
Local institutions favored a different set of stocks, with $GAMUDA(5398.MY)$ leading their purchases at RM48 million. $QL(7084.MY)$ closely trailed this at RM35 million, $YTLPOWR(6742.MY)$ at RM30 million, $PMETAL(8869.MY)$ at RM28 million, and $NESTLE(4707.MY)$ at RM26 million. These figures indicate a robust engagement by local institutions in infrastructure, food production, power generation, metal manufacturing, and consumer goods sectors.
Retail investors within the local market demonstrated a varied investment pattern. $YTLPOWR(6742.MY)$ again appeared on the list with RM20 million, followed by $YTL(4677.MY)$ at RM18 million. $RHBBANK(1066.MY)$, $ORIENT(4006.MY)$, and $VS(6963.MY)$ saw more modest net buys from local retail investors at RM8 million, RM8 million, and RM7 million, respectively. These investments reflect a more diverse portfolio approach by local retail investors, spreading their interest across the financial services, construction, technology, and manufacturing sectors.
