$NIO Inc(NIO.US$ Based on past tariff war, China is likely to retaliate by adopting a tic for tac strategy with an equivalence tariff imposed by US.
The impact of tariff is dependent on who has the bigger EV market share in the rival country. If NIO do not opearate in US, while Tesla has considerable mkt share in China, it is easy to see who will be the winner for the upcoming tariff war.
Technically in a way, if the news is confirmed, US will be slapping themselves with the latest tariff going to be imposed… ![]()

VIVEK SURANA : Tesla is not importing cars in China. it's actually manufacturing and exporting a lot of cars out of China. So banning will basically hurt China itself.

ZnWC VIVEK SURANA: I agree with you and what this post is suggesting will hurt the China economy and help the US government. Tariffs will work for importing EVs, not EVs produced in China. It will also hurt the Chinese people working in Tesla, the Shanghai province government will receive less tax etc.
bullrider_21 VIVEK SURANA: China can respond by kicking Tesla from China. Half of Tesla's deliveries are from China so profit will halve straight away. China customers have lots of options apart from Tesla.
