Automakers' share in China's NEV market. Seres overtook Li Auto in Feb 2024

BYD continued to lead China's new energy vehicle (NEV) market in Feb, even as its sales fell from a year earlier.
BYD had retail sales of 118,802 passenger NEVs in China in Feb, topping the NEV market with a 30.6% share, according to a ranking released on Mar 11 by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
BYD released figures earlier this month showing it sold 122,311 NEVs in Feb, down 36.84% year-on-year and down 39.30% from Jan. The figures are wholesale sales and include both passenger cars and commercial vehicles.

China's passenger NEVs sold 388,000 units at retail in Feb, 11.6% lower than a year earlier and 42.1% lower than in January, according to data released by the CPCA on March 8.
Tesla had retail sales of 30,141 units in China in Feb, down 11.1% year-on-year, and ranked third with a 7.8% share.
Tesla sold 60,365 China-made vehicles in Feb, including 30,224 vehicles exported, according to CPCA data released earlier this month.
Li Auto ranked No. 7 in China's NEV market in Feb with 20,251 retail sales and a 5.2% share.
Seres, which makes the Aito brand with Huawei, overtook Li Auto at No. 5 and a 7% share.

BYD continued to dominate China's NEV (NEV) market in Jan, with its share well ahead of second place.
BYD's retail sales of NEVs in Jan were up 48.0% year-on-year to 206,904 units, according to a ranking table released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
BYD topped the Chinese NEV market in January with a 31% share, the only one with a share of more than 10%.

BYD released figures earlier this month showing it sold 201,493 NEVs in Jan. Those figures are wholesale sales and include dealer inventory.
Geely had retail sales of 64,286 NEVs in January, up 632.1% year-on-year, to take second place with a 9.6% share.
Li Auto ranked No. 6 in China's NEV market in Jan with a 4.7% share.
Seres, which makes the Aito brand with Huawei, almost caught up with Li Auto at No. 7 and a 4.6% share.
The CPCA does not publish rankings for BEV sales, though it released data earlier this month showing that China sold 376,000 BEVs in Jan, with Tesla's share of the BEV market at 10.61%.
BYD also had the highest retail sales in the overall passenger car market in Jan, with a 10.2% share.
