$S&P/ASX 200(.XJO.AU$ closed 0.3% higher at 6995.4 as financial stocks rebounded from the prior day's losses.
Banks $ANZ Group Holdings Ltd(ANZ.AU$, $National Australia Bank Ltd(NAB.AU$, $CommBank(CBA.AU$ and $Westpac Banking Corp(WBC.AU$ put on between 0.35% and 1.5% as the financial sector, which comprises more than 25% of the ASX 200 by market capitalization, rose by 0.7%.
Tech stocks advanced strongly following a positive lead by U.S. peers, with $Xero Ltd(XRO.AU$, $WiseTech Global Ltd(WTC.AU$ and $Altium Ltd(ALU.AU$ putting on between 1.5% and 2.35%.
The telecommunications sector rose 0.9% as heavyweight $Telstra Group Ltd(TLS.AU$ added 1.3% amid a network outage at rival Optus.
Consumer stocks also gained. The materials sector pared the overall gains, losing 1.1% amid weakness in iron ore, gold and lithium stocks.
