AU Evening Wrap: Australia Shares Close 0.2% Higher Driven by Tech Stocks

Australia's $S&P/ASX 200(.XJO.AU$ closed 0.2% higher at 7789.1, helped by the technology sector. The benchmark got a strong lead from Wall Street, with the Nasdaq gaining 1.2% Friday.
$Life360 Inc(360.AU$ was the day's best performing stock, rising 17%, after it told the market it had started 2024 with strong operating metrics. $IRESS Ltd(IRE.AU$ and $Megaport Ltd(MP1.AU$ also performed well, adding 4.9% and 4.4% respectively.
Australia's biggest airline $Qantas Airways Ltd(QAN.AU$ rose 4.8% after announcing it's expanding its frequent flyer program. $Elders Ltd(ELD.AU$ dropped 24% after it said 1H FY 2024 trading was below expectations. $Beach Energy Ltd(BPT.AU$ lost 15% after it said there was a setback for its Waitsia Stage 2 natural-gas project.
The energy and consumer staples were the only two sectors to finish the day in the red, falling 1.2% and 1.0% respectively.
