AU Evening Wrap: ASX Falls for Fourth Day; Miners Sink
$S&P/ASX 200(.XJO.AU$ ended 0.5% lower at 7451.5, notching its fourth straight day of losses as the December rally looks to be petering out.
All sectors finished in the red, but the benchmark was dragged most by the technology sector, which fell 0.8%, and the materials sector, which lost 0.7%.
Some banks were also weaker, as stronger-than-anticipated U.S. jobs data weighed on rate-cut sentiment. Australia's largest lender, $CommBank(CBA.AU$, fell 0.9%, while $National Australia Bank Ltd(NAB.AU$ lost 0.2%. Financial company $Macquarie Group Ltd(MQG.AU$ dropped 0.8%.
$Core Lithium Ltd(CXO.AU$ was the session's worst performer and continued its downward trajectory, falling 17%. Other lithium miners also did poorly, with $Liontown Resources Ltd(LTR.AU$ dropping 2.5% and $Pilbara Minerals Ltd(PLS.AU$ closing 2.8% lower.
