The $S&P/ASX 200(.XJO.AU$ ended the session 0.7 per cent lower, the second day of losses, and tracked a sombre mood across Asia.
Industrials and healthcare weighed the most on the main benchmark. Real estate and energy were the only two sectors that rose.
$Telstra Group Ltd(TLS.AU$ stock fell 2.8 per cent after it shelved plans to sell a massive infrastructure business.
Battery metals developer $Core Lithium Ltd(CXO.AU$ was the biggest laggard, down nearly 25 per cent after a $100 million share placement.
Mining giants reversed earlier losses, with $BHP Group Ltd(BHP.AU$ ending flat and $Rio Tinto Ltd(RIO.AU$ 1.1 per cent higher. The big four banks slipped with $National Australia Bank Ltd(NAB.AU$ hit the most, down 2.1 per cent.
$Inghams Group Ltd(ING.AU$ shares surged 14.8 per cent after reporting a 72 per cent jump in full-year net profit.
Shares in $Nuix Ltd(NXL.AU$ tumbled 9.1 per cent. The company reduced its losses to $5.6 million for 2022, down from $22.8 million a year earlier.
