AMD working hard to address supply chain issue (to ramp production)

$Advanced Micro Devices(AMD.US)$ The recent quarterly earnings were inline but failed to provide support for AMD's stock price. Although Lisa Su has raised full year AI GPU revenue guidance from $3.5b to over $4b, it was underwhelming for investors. AMD is mainly supply-constrained for 1st half of 2024 & therefore unable to deliver enough MI300X GPUs to customers. Sales ramp is expected to be in H2.
As we all know, nVidia has reserved majority of TSMC's capacity to manufacturer its H100 GPUs. AMD investors should be pleased to know that the team is not sitting idle. I have just seen some reports that they are hard at work getting their supply chain in order for upcoming product ramp (sharing the articles below):
1. AMD & nVidia have reportedly reserved TSMC's entire CoWoS (Chip-on-Wafer-on-Substrate) & SoIC (System on Integrated Chips) Advanced Packaging Supplies until 2025. Unlike nVidia, AMD has already started using SoIC on its MI300X GPU. So, it is possible that the entire SoIC supply is reserved by AMD.
2. AMD will be buying $3b worth of HBM3E memory from Samsung. This advanced High-Bandwidth memory will be used in AMD's next-gen MI350 AI GPUs. Current suppliers of HBM memory are SK Hynix & Micron. AMD is finding alternative sources to address component shortages. $3b worth of memory is a lot of memory. Just imagine how many AI cards AMD is projecting to produce.
3. AMD will be using Samsung & TSMC to manufacture its upcoming Zen 5C CPUs. TSMC's manufacturing capacity has been known to be fully booked. AMD is finding an alternative source to manufacture its CPUs, which leaves TSMC with a bit more capacity for its AI GPUs. This will mean more products will go to customers than being stuck, waiting to be assembled in production line. There is (hopefully) not a lot of risk involved utilising Samsung because it will be on its more mature 4nm process.
Last note, in the short term, stock prices may not move according to company's performance. However, if we study the company's actions, we will be able to sleep well at night because we know the team is working hard, finding ways to get products out to all the customers.
Good luck to all investors.
